Stay Safe Off-Grid

Off-grid gear is built tough — but for your safety and to get the best performance, please follow these simple tips when handling, transporting, and operating your rented power station.

⚡ Safe Operating Conditions for Power Stations and Generators
  • Keep units dry at all times — never operate in rain or allow water ingress.
  • Allow ventilation — always keep at least 20–30cm clearance around power station cooling vents; only operate generators outside.
  • Shield power stations from direct sunlight — prolonged exposure can overheat the units.
  • Never overload outputs — check the maximum power rating of your power station. Overloading can trigger shutdowns or cause permanent damage.
  • Use only approved cables to recharge your power station — third-party cables can cause fire, overheating, or device failure.
  • Turn off units when not in use to prevent overheating and battery drain.
  • Keep away from children and pets — treat power stations like your mains AC power points.
🚗 Safe Transport & Storage Tips
  • Avoid overheating during transport — never leave power stations inside a parked car in hot weather. Internal car temperatures above 45°C (113°F) can cause serious battery damage.
  • Avoid extreme temperatures — recharge between 0°C–45°C and operate between –10°C–45°C.
  • Secure units during transport — always tie down/secure heavy batteries and generators to prevent tipping, injury, or damage.
  • Take care recharging with long extension cords — ensure a minimum 10A rating, uncoiled, and in good condition.
  • Protect power stations from heavy impacts — avoid dropping, knocking, or exposing the unit to strong vibrations.
🔧 Maintenance & Repair Safety
  • Never attempt repairs! — let us know if there are issues to address.
  • Handle water exposure incidents carefully — if a unit falls into water, do not attempt to power it on. Move it to a safe dry area and contact support.
🔋

Power-Saving Tips

Get the most from your rental — these practical tips help extend battery life and reduce unnecessary drain.

💡 General Tips

  • Calculate your power needs upfront with our simple
  • Use DC instead of AC where possible — DC outputs are more efficient than inverter-powered AC outlets.
  • Turn off unused ports and features — disable Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or the display screen when not needed.
  • Keep your unit cool — avoid placing it in direct sunlight. Overheating reduces efficiency.

⚙️ Device-Specific Habits

  • High-draw appliances (e.g., kettles, heaters): use briefly or consider gas alternatives.
  • Laptops and phones: charge via USB-C or DC instead of AC to reduce inverter losses.

📈 Monitoring & Planning

  • Use the app (EcoFlow/iTechWorld) to monitor real-time usage and manage loads.
  • Plan high-usage tasks for daylight hours if you’re using solar — keep batteries full overnight.
🌦️

Weather Protection

Protect your gear — all products have environmental limits. Here’s how to keep them safe outdoors.

🔋 Power Stations (EcoFlow & iTechWorld)
  • Use in dry environments only — these units are not waterproof and must be kept out of rain and snow.
  • Operate between –10°C and 45°C; store within this range for battery health – do not leave in hot cars!
  • Keep 30 cm clear around vents — never block cooling fans or exhaust ports.
☀️ Solar Panels (EcoFlow & iTechWorld)
  • Solar panels are IP67 rated — safe in light rain but never submerge under water.
  • Do not use during storms — high winds and hail can cause damage.
🔌 Generators (Honda EU22i)
  • Never run in wet conditions — keep dry to prevent electrocution.
  • Minimum 1m clearance from walls and gear — the muffler gets extremely hot.
  • Let cool fully before storing or covering after use.
📡 Starlink (Standard & Mini)
  • Weather-rated for outdoor use — but IP67 rating is lost when using the Ethernet port.
  • Mount firmly and route cables safely to avoid water ingress.
📻 UHF Radios (GME XRS-330C & XRS-660)
  • The GME gear we rent is robust and can be operated between –20°C and 60°C.
  • The GME XRS-660 is military-grade and IP67 rated – rugged but not unbreakable!
🆘 Personal Locator Beacons (GME MT610G)
  • Waterproof and buoyant (IP67), but best used on land or air — not underwater.
  • Will operate between –20°C and 55°C and can be stored from –30°C to 70°C.
  • Ensure a clear view of the sky for GPS accuracy when activated.

Troubleshooting

Running into issues? Find fast fixes by product type below.

🔋 EcoFlow Power Stations
  • Power station won’t turn on? Hold the main power button for 2–3 seconds. Ensure battery isn’t at 0%. Try charging via AC cable for 10 minutes and try again.
  • No output from USB / DC / AC ports? Make sure the relevant output button is pressed. Check if the port icon appears on the screen.
  • AC Output shut off unexpectedly? Could be idle timeout. Set “AC output always on” in the EcoFlow app for intermittent loads like fridges.
  • Device not charging via solar? Check that open circuit voltage (Voc) is below 60V (River/Delta 2) or 150V (Pro 3). Ensure solar connectors are fully seated and panel angle is optimal.
  • AC overload warning? Unplug appliances until the warning disappears. Avoid drawing more than rated power.
  • Fan too loud or not spinning? Fans spin based on internal temperature. If blocked or damaged, move unit to ventilated area or contact support.
  • Over-temperature warning? Stop use. Move unit to shaded, ventilated area. Wait for temperature to drop and auto-recovery to kick in.
  • Low-temperature warning? Move to a warmer environment. Device resumes when temperature reaches operating range (above 0–3°C for charging).
  • Battery won’t charge from car? Ensure vehicle is running before plugging in. Use official EcoFlow XT60i cable.
  • Wi-Fi or Bluetooth won’t connect? Turn off unit. Then hold main power button until screen flashes twice to reset IoT connections.
  • Red flashing battery/error icon? Open EcoFlow app to check for fault code. If unresolved, stop using and contact support.
  • USB-C or car port overload? Unplug connected devices and restart the unit. Avoid exceeding port current/power rating.
  • If you can’t find the answer here, check the full product manual in our Product Manuals section.
🔋 iTechWorld Power Stations
  • Unit won’t turn on? Long-press the main power button until the screen lights up. If the screen stays off, try charging via AC adapter for 15 minutes.
  • AC output not working? Press the AC button to enable output. If still not working, check if overload protector has tripped and press reset button if needed.
  • Device overloaded? Unplug all appliances, power off the station, wait 30 seconds, then power it back on. Reset overload protection if triggered.
  • Solar not charging? Ensure Voc is below 50V (PS800) or 90V (PRO). Use the XT60 to Anderson cable provided and avoid solar regulators — the station has a built-in MPPT.
  • Car charging not working? Make sure the vehicle is running and you’re using the supplied car charger. Charging via car takes longer than AC.
  • Temperature warning? Disconnect all loads and allow the unit to cool before resuming. Maintain 30cm clearance around intake/outlet fans.
  • USB/DC not working? Ensure the relevant USB/DC buttons are switched on. Each output group must be enabled separately via button press.
  • AC input not charging? Do not use extension leads or plug other devices into the same outlet. Use wall socket directly for reliable charging.
  • Battery drains too quickly? Check what’s plugged in. Some appliances (e.g. fridges, induction cooktops) have spikes in draw that deplete power faster than expected.
  • If you can’t find the answer here, check the full product manual in our Product Manuals section.
☀️ Solar Panels (EcoFlow / iTechWorld)
  • No input showing? Confirm cable connection (MC4 > XT60 or Anderson). Ensure the panel is in direct sunlight and not shaded or indoors.
  • Charging is slow? Re-angle panels to face sun at 90°. Clean dust or dirt from cells. Avoid partial shading — even a small shadow can reduce output dramatically.
  • EcoFlow panel not working? Avoid using during hail, strong winds, or storms. Check for damage if recently exposed to harsh weather. Do not bend or apply pressure to the panel.
  • iTechWorld panel not working? Check that you’re not using a regulated controller — iTechWorld units require unregulated DC input. Avoid corrosion, sharp objects, and heat buildup during storage or use.
  • Parallel/Series connection issues? Confirm all polarities are correctly aligned. Never exceed panel voltage ratings (EcoFlow: 21.6V–22.4V; iTechWorld: 22.4V max). Use manufacturer-recommended cables only.
  • Operating temperature warnings? Panels may shut down in extreme heat or cold. Normal use range: –20°C to 85°C. Let panels cool before handling if left in direct sun.
  • If you can’t find the answer here, check the full product manual in our Product Manuals section.
🔌 Honda Generators
  • Engine won’t start? Check that the fuel filler vent is set to ON and the engine switch is ON. Ensure the generator has fuel and enough oil (Oil Alert may have shut it down).
  • Still won’t start? Move the choke to CLOSED, then pull the starter firmly. Engine may be flooded — wait a few minutes and try again.
  • No AC output? If the red overload light is on, unplug all appliances and restart the generator. Some appliances may draw too much power or be faulty — try plugging in one device at a time.
